Below are select photos from my various travels. Over the years I have become a bit of a shutterbug. If you can't tell from
the photo libraries below, I usually prefer vacation on the west coast.

Loyola University Pep Band Reunion 2009
Once again I returned to Chicago for my second pep band reunion at Loyola University Chicago. The band
has grown substantially. It now operates under the auspices of the athletic department. Students now
get scholarships for participating.
While in Chicago I took the walking tour of the city. The skyline has completely changed. There are cranes
tossing up new skyscrapers everywhere. Trump's new tower is almost complete. It will be the second tallest building
in the US. Loyola's campus has changed - much of Skyscraper has been renovated. The chapel has also been renovated.
Several new buildings have gone up including an addition to the library which is a glass building facing the lake.

Snow Boarding 2009
I joined the AE Ski Club this year. It has been a blast snowboarding up north.
Since I picked up boarding in 2004 this has been absolutely the best year.

Army/Navy 2008
Over the weekend I attended the Army/Navy Game at Lincoln Field in Philadelphia. I took the train down on Friday and toured
Independence Hall as well as the US Mint. Cameras weren't allowed in the mint so there aren't any pictures of that. Sadly
the mint wasn't running. I think I was about the only person who stopped at each display - at least ten school trips
zipped through without ever stopping to look at any of the historical displays.

Manchester Road Race
I ran the Manchester Road Race!. I had a respectable time of
36:57. This means that for the 2009 race I'll be closer to the front at the start. I normally run on a treadmill
so I was a bit uncertain how I would do in the race. Given the large hill and cold temperatures that was one of my best
running times.

Block Island
Needing some respite from work I tossed my bike on top of the car and sped away to Block Island. I spent the day biking, reading, and enjoying the beach. Wish I had visited the island more during the summer. I can't wait until next summer!

West Rock Park
Having paddled around the Thimble Islands I finally decided to explore West Rock Park. Every day I drive under the park through the Hero's Tunnel
on my way to work. The northern approach to the park via Baldwin Drive is blocked by debris. The park definitely needs some
maintenance. It does however have an excellent view of Sleeping Giant State Park.

Thimble Islands
Finally, after living in Connecticut for most of my life I visited the Thimble Islands. The Thimble Islands are a
archipelago of over 100 islands on Long Island Sound. I spent the better part of a hot June day paddling around the
islands on my Kayak.

JavaOne 2008
In the middle of May I traveled out to San Francisco to attend JavaOne. JavaOne is one of the largest technical
conferences with over 14,000 attendees. I flew out a few days before the conference and drove down PCH to Santa Cruz.
I also visited Muir Woods.

Loyola University Pep Band Reunion 2008
For the first week in January I traveled for Chicago for a pep band reunion. This was my first time returning to Chicago
since graduating in 2001. During my four years at Loyola University Chicago I played the trombone in the Band of Wolves.

Times Square New Year's Eve 2007
I finally got down to Time Square for the New Years celebrations. Friends from Chicago flew in to check it out. It is
rather anti-climatic. You stand outside in the cold for six hours to watch a ball drop - then everyone leaves. We ended
up a couple of blocks north of Times Square. Security was extremely tight with a checkpoint every block.

Grand Tour 2007
Vacationing in the southwest. I visited Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon National Park (south rim), Monument Valley, Capitol Reef National Park, Bryce Canyon National Parl, and Zion National Park. The scenery was unbelievable.

Summer Sailing at YCYC
I joined the Yale Yacht Club (YCYC) for the summer. YCYC has a fleet of 420s that they use for collegiate racing.
The club is situated in Branford on Long Island Sound. Races are held every Tuesday night during the summer. This is a
pretty good video of what sailing a 420 can be like 420 Sailing. It isn't usually that exciting as Long Island Sound is sheltered by Long Island.

Dad's Retirement Party
My father finally retired from the public school system in Manchester, CT. He had been a vice principal as well as
a history teacher during his 30+ year career. Note, he is the one on the right.

Vacation 2006
Since my brother was getting married in May I had to do one last trip to his pad in LA near the beach. I had a blast
kayaking and sailing. The weather was a bit chilly with temps in the 60s (better than CT in the 30s). I had the beaches
to myself!

Last TurboWorx Business Trip
This ended up being my last business trip for TurboWorx. I flew into Los Angles and met up with our west coast rep - Cameron. We then visited City of Hope before flying to San Francisco and onwards to Seattle. In San Francisco we visited Berlex and Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore. One customer canceled I ended up with a day to explore San Francisco! In Seattle we did a sales pitch at Rosetta.

West Coast Business Trip
After the Labor Day weekend I flew out to San Franscico. Visited Berlex before flying down to San Diego. I spent two days configuring our software at Neurocrine. I then took the bus back to LA to visit my brother for the weekend. On Tuesday (I think) I flew out to North Carolina to visit Syngenta and an imaging group connected to the NIH. Got out of NC just before a category 1 hurricane hit.

San Diego Business Trip
After my vacation I bounced up to San Francisco to make pre-sales calls for TurboWorx. We visited the Dill Group as well as Therevance and met up with a new board member for TurboWorx. Cameron and I then flew down to San Diego and make a sales call at the San Diego Super Computing Center and visited Neurocrine, one of our existing accounts. On the trip home my flight was overbooked and I volunteered my seat. As a result I spent the night in Phoenix and received a voucher for a free flight!

Oracle Users Group NYC cruise
The New York Oracle Users Group organized a mini-conference
on a cruise around the harbor. It was an interesting day of sites and many in-depth technical presentations.

Hobie Holder 14
I purchased my first boat! It is a Hobie Holder 14.The boat is in excellent condition - I looked at quiet a few wrecks before discovering this jewel.

Apple's World Wide Developers Conference
This was my second trip to Apple's Developer Conference in San Jose, CA. This year I am representing Kodak. Last year
I attended the conference as a student with a scholarship from Apple. It was here where I originally discovered the
New Haven Kodak group while waiting in line to talk to a recruiter at Apple. Joining Apple's student developer
program was the best $100 I had ever spent.

World Trade Center
Finally made it down to lower Manhattan to see the destruction from 9/11. It is hard to grasp the enormous
scale of the destruction from the photos.

The following day we got over a foot of snow!
